With just over a month until the new structure at the SSH Faculty comes into force, the two new departments in the organization have been named. 

The department that will be created when the Department of Culture and Learning and the Department of Communication and Psychology are merged, will be called the Department of Culture and Communication. In English, Department of Culture and Communication. Abbreviation: IKK

The department that will be created when the Department of Politics and Society and the Department of Sociology and Social Work are merged will be called the Department of Society and Politics. In English, the Department of Society and Politics. Abbreviation: Society.

"The new names clearly reflect the breadth and diversity of research at the two departments. The names embrace both the humanities, social sciences and business-oriented disciplines and signal a strong academic identity that is recognizable both internally and externally," says SSH Dean Rasmus Antoft.

The names of the departments have been created following processes in which all employees at the four existing departments have been able to submit proposals, that the department managements have then reviewed – in some cases also with input from external stakeholders. The selected names have then been discussed in the department councils, after which the department managements have selected the final proposals.

The name proposals have been approved by the SSH dean, who has recommended that the Executive Board do the same. The Executive Board approved the names at their meeting on 19 November. 

With the two department names in place, the overall framework for the new SSH structure is now set. As of 1 January, the faculty looks like this:
